TL;DR Overview of Keap Review

In a hurry? No worries. Here’s the TL;DR version of our Keap review…

  • Keap, formerly known as Infusionsoft, is an all-in-one customer relationship management , sales, and marketing app.
  • Originally, Infusionsoft was a customer relationship management app but later the company decided to add various additional features such as landing pages, forms, A/B testing, etc.
  • Customer relationship management functionality remains at the core of Keap software.
  • You can create automations to follow up with leads, send invoices, etc.
  • There’s a basic funnel building functionality that allows you to create opt-in forms and landing pages, collect email addresses, and send emails to your subscribers.
  • Keap is a great CRM app. It can be tremendously helpful to a small business owner that wants to stay on top of things at all times. You should definitely check it out if you want to get more organized.
  • Don’t buy into the “all-in-one” hype. Use Keap as a CRM app but don’t build funnels with it. Go with a dedicated funnel building solution such as ClickFunnels instead.

What is Keap?

Keap, formerly known as Infusionsoft,  is an all-in-one customer relationship management (CRM), sales, and marketing app.

It was founded in 2001 by Scott and Eric Martineau. The brothers were then joined by Clate Mask, who became the third co-founder and serves as the CEO of the company.

Over the years, the company grew, and Infusionsoft became one of the most popular CRM solutions out there.

In 2019, the company conducted what they called the “rebrand of the century”, and since then it is known as Keap.

Customer relationship management remains at the core of the software but there are also additional features such as email marketing, landing pages, A/B testing, and more.

Every time an established software company decides to expand beyond their app’s initial functionality, the question on everyone’s mind is:

“Can they pull it off?”

You see, creating software that solves one problem well is challenging enough, so a business that tries to build an “all-in-one” app that solves a variety of problems runs the risk of becoming a Jack of all trades, master of none.

So did Keap pull it off?

We’ll let you decide…

Keap’s Features

Here are some of Keap’s most noteworthy features.

Sales and Marketing Automation

You can automate the sales and marketing processes by using automation rules.

For Example:

Whenever you get a new lead, you can automatically send them a follow-up email.

Automations like that can help you save time, increase conversions, and make more money.

It also ensures that no lead slips through the cracks. As your business grows, you will get to the point where you can’t possibly keep track of every lead. But guess what? Keap can do it for you.

Customer Relationship Management

Keap’s predecessor, Infusionsoft, was a CRM app.

So it’s not surprising that customer relationship management functionality is the app’s main strength.

It allows you to create a client database where you can keep everything in one place as opposed to having customer data scattered over your inbox, spreadsheets, Google Docs, etc.

You can easily pull up the history of conversations, emails, meetings, quotes, and payment as well as any shared documents such as proposals, contracts, and images.

You can also connect this CRM system to Gmail or Outlook so that the contact record would be automatically updated with each sent and received email.

The previously mentioned automation functionality allows you to automatically send emails to new leads but you can also do it manually.

It’s worth noting that if you decide to go the manual route, you can still save time with pre-written email templates.

Sales Pipeline Management

The app also helps you to keep your sales pipeline organized.

You can divide it into three categories:

  • Leads
  • Qualifying
  • Won

And then you can track each person’s progress from a lead to a qualified lead to a customer.

Automation comes in handy here as well because you can automatically send relevant emails as the person progresses through the pipeline.

For example, when you move a deal into the “Won” stage, you can set up an automation to automatically send that person an invoice.

Moreover, once the project is complete, you can set up an automation for the next step, such as asking the customer to write a Google review.

All this can help you optimize your sales process and save you a ton of time.

Payments

Keap allows you to accept credit cards, send invoices, and track their statuses right there in the CRM system.

All your clients need to do is click the “Pay Now” button in the invoice and their credit card that you have on file will be automatically charged.

There are native integrations with PayPal, Stripe, and WePay, so you shouldn’t have any issues accepting payments.

Also, if a client is running late with the payment, the app allows you to send friendly automated payment reminders, saving you the awkwardness of chasing payments yourself.

You can also see the status of all invoices, so if you are wondering if the client has received the invoice, you can easily check that.

Reporting and Analytics

Keap comes with an analytics functionality that allows you to gather data, analyze it, and extract valuable business insights from it.

Here are some of the things that you can see with this feature:

  • Conversions by lead source, sales stage, and other criteria
  • Daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports
  • Trends of payments, revenues, and transactions
  • Email open rates, click-through rates, and more
  • Marketing campaign performance
  • Form completion stats
  • Contact action

You can also use various filtering options to get more granular data, compare the same metric during two separate periods of time, and more.

All this data is easy to understand thanks to the visualizations (graphs, charts, etc.).

Email Marketing

Keap offers a basic funnel building functionality.

It allows you to create opt-in forms and landing pages to collect email addresses and send both autoresponder and broadcast emails to your subscribers.

It’s worth noting that it comes with an A/B testing feature.

Appointments

Keap has an appointment scheduling feature that allows you to arrange meetings without having to deal with endless back-and-forth emails.

All you need to do is set up your calendar and then email the link to the person you want to set up an appointment with.

They can then pick one of the available times in your calendar.

Customer Support

While customer support isn’t a software feature, it’s nevertheless an important factor when picking a CRM system for your business. You wouldn’t want the company to leave you hanging should anything go wrong, would you?

Keap provides excellent customer support that was rated 9/10 by their customers. You can reach out to them via chat and via phone. Rest assured that if you ever need help, you will be able to get it.

Moreover, there’s also a “Known Issues” database, “Ask the Community” forum, and an official Facebook group. So you might be able to find a solution to your problem yourself.

Keap Integrations

This list is not exhaustive. It simply highlights some of the more noteworthy integrations that Keap offers.

  • Ecommerce integrations with BigCommerce, ThriveCart, WordPress, and Privy.
  • Landing pages and web forms  integrations with FormLift, InstaPage, JotForm, TypeForm, and LeadPages.
  • Lead generation integrations with AdEspresso and OptinMonster.
  • Mail integrations with Gmail and Outlook.
  • Membership integration with CustomerHub.
  • Reporting integration with  Graphly.
  • Scheduling integrations with AppointmentGore and ScheduleOne.
  • Connector integrations with Piesync, Zapier, automate.io, PlusThis, and Workato.

Zapier integration allows you to connect your Keap account to over 3,0000 popular web apps. These include everything from Google Sheets to Shopify to ClickFunnels.

So while the company could offer more native integrations,  you will likely be able to find integrations with all or at least most of the tools that you are using to run your online business.

Also, there’s the Keap Marketplace where you can find action plans, specialty apps, pre-built campaigns, services, and technology partners that can help you extend the value of Keap software.

You might want to browse it to see what’s on offer there.

Keap Pricing

Keap has three pricing plans:

  • Lite plan that starts at $79/month for 500 contacts. It’s meant for solopreneurs and new businesses. It offers core CRM functionality, automation, and email tools that can help you get organized, automate follow-up, and close more deals.

  • Max plan that starts at $199/month for 500 contacts. It’s meant for established businesses and teams. It includes CRM features, ecommerce and advanced automation features, and more. It can help you optimize your sales pipeline and grow your online revenue.

It’s worth noting that all plans include:

Interestingly, your coach can help you build your Sales and Marketing Playbook, something that the company values at $1,500, for just $499.

In short, Keap seem to be dedicated to helping their customers make the most out of their software, which we respect because here at ClickFunnels we have the same attitude.

The Best Keap Alternative

When it comes to “all-in-one” platforms, it’s hard to say what the best alternative is because they offer so many features.

However, if we are talking about Keap’s landing page, email marketing, and A/B testing features, then you would probably be better off going with ClickFunnels.

You see, when you look at these features in Keap, they seem to be added as an afterthought, as a “nice to have” on top of the core CRM functionality.

Meanwhile, here at ClickFunnels,  these features are an integral part of what we offer, which is cutting-edge funnel building software.

So if all you want is to create landing pages and collect email addresses, then sure, Keap will do.

But if you are interested in building sales funnels that allow you to grow your business explosively, then you need a dedicated, proven funnel building app.

In other words:

You need ClickFunnels.

Is Keap Right for You?

Keap is one of the best customer relationship management solutions out there.

There’s no doubt that this app can be a tremendous help to any small business owner that wants to stay on top of things at all times.

So if that’s you, then give it a try.

Conclusion

Plenty of software companies market their apps as “all-in-one” platforms, but you should always be skeptical of such claims.

It would be unfair to call Keap a Jack of all trades, master of none because they are masters of customer relationship management.

But don’t expect them to also be masters of landing page building, email marketing, or A/B testing.

So use Keap for its CRM functionality and look elsewhere for funnel building features.
