5 Ways to Quickly Increase Your Sales Revenue

#1: Streamline Your Sales Process

In all likelihood, the more cold calls you make, the more discovery calls you will schedule, and the more sales you will close.

This means that simply dedicating more time to cold calling should help you increase your sales revenue. 

But you probably already have a lot on your plate, especially if you are a solopreneur. So how can you find time for more cold outreach?

If you haven’t streamlined your sales process yet, you could probably free up a significant amount of time by doing so. 

Start by tracking how you spend your time. You can do that with software like RescueTime. 

If your work also involves time away from screens such as in-person meetings with potential clients, you can track that with a note app on your smartphone or with pen and paper. Simply write down the beginning and end times for such tasks. 

Time tracking may not seem necessary but it probably is because people who don’t track their time tend to have a wildly inaccurate perception of where it’s going. 

One obvious example of this is how much time we waste online without even realizing it. It’s probably safe to say that most people have had the experience where they decide to “just check Facebook real quick” or “just watch this one YouTube video” and the next thing they know more than an hour has gone by. But we only realize that this has happened when we notice it. And we often don’t!

It’s possible that you might discover that you are wasting a substantial amount of time online throughout your workday, in which case blocking those websites with an app like Freedom could help you stay focused and get more done. 

You should also carefully examine how much time you are spending on various repetitive tasks that could potentially be automated. 

When you are in the midst of things just trying to get through the day, typing out an entire email instead of making a customizable template or manually transferring information from one app to another instead of integrating them may seem more appealing because it saves you time in the moment.

But once you take a step back and look at your time tracking data, you might realize that you are spending way more time on all these small repetitive tasks than you thought. 

In that case, make a list of all such tasks where you rank them from the most time-consuming to the least time-consuming and then start going through that list and automating them one by one. 

There are two types of software that can help you with that:

  1. Customer relationship management (CRM) software that gives you an overview of your entire sales pipeline, serves as a central hub for keeping relevant information about each potential customer and makes it easy to automate follow-up emails, send appointment reminders, and so on. 
  2. Workflow management software like Zapier that allows you to integrate various web apps that you use in your workflow with each other.

The more you streamline and automate your sales process, the more time you will have for cold calling!

#2: Do 10X More of What’s Already Working

Okay, so now that you have more time, you can start making more cold calls. 

But have you considered increasing the number of cold calls you make every day ten times?

Here’s some food for thought from Alex Hormozi, an entrepreneur and investor who reached $100M net worth by his early 30s:

Making ten times more cold calls than you are making now might seem like a crazy idea at first. But really, ask yourself: what’s preventing you from doing just that?

You’ll probably find that there’s no tangible obstacle standing in your way. It likely boils down to focus, discipline, and willingness to work hard.

And yes, even if you have a lot more time now that you have automated everything that can be automated, you’ll probably still need to work longer hours in order to do this. Possibly even give up days off.

But if you want to increase your sales revenue fast, that’s the most straightforward way to go about it. 

Moreover, if you start making ten times more cold calls, your sales revenue might increase more than ten times. Why?

Because you’ll likely see a rapid improvement in your sales skills simply due to the sheer volume of practice you’ll get.

Consequently, your cold-call-to-discovery-call and discovery-call-to-sale conversion rates will probably start increasing as a result!

#3: Apply the 80/20 Rule

You may already be familiar with the Pareto principle which is also known as the 80/20 rule.

It says that in many cases, around 80% of the consequences come from 20% of the causes. But what does this have to do with sales?

If you have an established business that has been generating revenue for a while, you can look at your historical data to see whether the 80/20 rule applies to it.

While the breakdown probably won’t be exactly 80/20, you might find that a minority of your customers are responsible for the majority of your revenue.

In that case, if you can figure out what these lucrative customers tend to have in common, we recommend doing so and then developing a dream customer profile based on those common traits.

Then, when you are doing cold outreach, instead of casting a wide net, zero in on potential customers who fit that dream customer profile. 

This can help you attract more of these lucrative customers and increase your sales revenue.

Moreover, if you niche down to only targeting potential customers who meet your dream customer profile, it will give you the opportunity to optimize your sales pitch so that it would resonate with that particular demographic.

This can help you increase your cold-call-to-discovery-call and discovery-call-to-sale conversion rates even more!

#4: Build a Sales Team

So far, we have discussed how you can increase your sales revenue by yourself, without delegating or outsourcing anything. 

You can achieve a lot this way but you’ll eventually reach the limit of how much sales revenue you can generate as a single individual. 

And if you want to grow your business beyond that limit, your approach to sales will have to evolve.

One potential solution here is to build a sales team by hiring people who are better than you at sales in general and then teaching them everything they need to know about selling your product or service in particular. 

This can help you drastically increase sales in a short period of time. Of course, you need to make sure that your business is prepared to handle that. Otherwise, you might find yourself in a situation where you can’t keep up with incoming orders!

#5: Build a Sales Funnel

One issue with building a sales team is that your salespeople will have the same human limitations as you do. 

This means that if you rely on them to sell your products and services, these human limitations will always be the bottleneck when it comes to growing your business. 

To put it simply, once you hit the limit of how much sales revenue your salespeople can generate, you will have to expand your sales team in order to grow your sales revenue past that limit. 

That is certainly doable but something to keep in mind here is that hiring, training, and managing salespeople are all resource-intensive tasks that take time to master.

Consequently, while you can scale sales this way, you probably won’t be able to do it as fast as you’d like to. 

Fortunately, there’s a better alternative, an approach that makes much more sense in the digital age: building a sales funnel and then driving traffic to it. 

Unlike salespeople, sales funnels aren’t subject to human limitations, which means that a well-designed sales funnel can sell your products and services on autopilot 24/7/365 as long as you continue driving traffic to it. 

Also, once you have a sales funnel that’s working well, all you need to do if you want to make more sales is drive more traffic to it.
