So, what was it specifically about the field of real estate that captivated her attention?
“The thought of showing someone a home, and being that force that helped them, was attractive to me. What brought me to the investment side was putting the deal together; it’s putting a puzzle together. So when I can find the deal, and get that person out of that distressed situation and then find somebody and give them THAT deal, and on top of that I get paid for it, that was the drive for me! It was like an NBA player, we won that game over and over again”.
Her story is inspiring in every sense. Mercedes Kelley recognized a need as numerous individuals approached her with questions. All she had to do was possess more knowledge than a specific group of individuals who were deeply interested in a particular subject, enabling her to educate and mentor them. Mercedes recognized the possibility of a business opportunity at that very moment.
Entrepreneurship with Mercedes Kelley
She has been a coach for six years and explains that even while the concept of “entrepreneurship” may not have been as common in the past, she always knew what she wanted to do. Mercedes Kelley was often unhappy in her traditional 9–5 jobs, but it wasn’t until she entered the real estate industry that she discovered her entrepreneurial drive.
She didn’t want to have her ideas and herself confined in a box, and being an entrepreneur gave her that freedom she always wanted. Isn’t that statement applicable to all of us? We all seek the freedom to express our ideas and the daily feeling of evolving toward something bigger.
