Customer Lifetime Value (or “CLV” for short) is the average revenue a customer can be expected to generate. Not just on the first purchase, but every purchase they make as long as they are a customer in your pipeline.
Some customers will only buy your lowest-ticket offer. Others will climb the value ladder all the way to your highest-ticket offer. Many will fall in the middle. The average revenue per customer taken from all your customers across all your purchases … that’s your CLV.
The more sales you make, the more your CLV will help you determine how much each customer is “worth” to you — in other words, how much it makes sense to spend to acquire them, and what your profit margins will be.
